JOB SUMMARYThe Facilities and Safety Engineer implements, manages, and monitors, maintenance and safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. The incumbent will evaluate the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. It is the responsibility of the Facilities and Safety Engineer to ensure the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITESResponsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure the facility operates efficiently. This includes HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Plan and oversee facility upgrades, renovations, and construction projects to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
  • Serve as point of contact with external contractors and vendors for facility maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
  • Develop and deliver safety training to employees, covering topics such as machinery safety, hazardous materials handling, new hire safety orientations, and emergency response procedures.
  • Perform job safety hazard analyses and recommend mitigation procedures for Gel-Pak & TouchMark facilities to ensure compliance with OSHA, federal and state regulations and improve existing conditions.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries and works with department managers to develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Provide technical support for capital projects and process related issues in the Employee Health & Safety (EHS) area.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of department safety work order tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain emergency response plans, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid protocols while serving as an integral member of the safety committee and the emergency response team.
  • Lead and organize safety committee meetings and promotes a culture of safety within the organization through communication, training, and leadership.
  • Maintain up to date records and documentation related to safety incidents, inspections, and training.

      • Purchasing and expense management related to facilities and safety.ESSENTIAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
        • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field).
        • Certification in Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP, CIH) or similar credentials preferred.
        • 3+ years demonstrable experience in facility and safety-oriented role within a manufacturing environment.
        • Ability to develop, implement, train, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
        • Working knowledge performing safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA safety standards.
        • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and standards.
        • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
        • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; developing and delivering effective training sessions.
        • Working knowledge of MS365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
        • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
        • Maintain 1) reliable and safe transportation to other Delphon facilities or for business travel, 2) valid State-issued driver's license, 3) proper vehicle registration, and 4) State-required minimum automobile insurance coverage requirement.WORK ENVIROMENT/PHYISCAL REQUIREMENTS
          • Standing up to 8 hours per day.
          • Occasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 lbs.
          • May involve exposure to hazardous materials and conditions, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
          • Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards, with ability to have reactions to adverse visual/sound signals.
          • Ability to read/see up to a millimeter, able to manipulate objects by hand.
