Overview:
POSITION SUMMARYThe Network Engineer is responsible for developing standards for the Local Area Network (LAN) and collaborates with other enterprise administrators in the support and maintenance of the Wide Area Network (WAN). - The IT Department is seeking a Network Engineer/Administrator who has a balance of working with networking and managing a Windows server environment.The Network Engineer works with team members at the facility and corporate level to coordinate WAN-related activities and issues. The Network Engineer is responsible for the service and support of the LAN and related servers, hubs, routers, modems, switches, and other equipment within the IT infrastructure. In order to promote service availability, the Network Engineer will monitor performance and troubleshoot as necessary to maximize the integrity of individual servers and the overall network. - As a member of the Infrastructure team within the facility's Information Technology, the Network Engineer position would also ideally be able to assist with supporting the enterprise Windows server environment and basic system administration duties. - -

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSManages and maintains the Local Area Network (LAN), including operational maintenance, availability, capacity planning, monitoring of critical LAN and other network related environments, with little to no supervisor.Collaborates with infrastructure team in the planning and coordination of continuous network improvements; leads or participates in cross-functional team that manages a full spectrum of technology issues and problems.Responsible for systems integration, design, and support for core enterprise network, ensuring operational effectiveness and security safeguards.Capable of troubleshooting and providing support on Windows and vm server environments; basic troubleshooting, backup, patches and update processesCapable of troubleshooting and providing support for active directory and system/user administration issuesProvides level three technical and escalation support for network systems and technology platforms.Analyzes network configuration for critical IT resource utilization, developing plans and recommendations to improve the performance and efficiency of network.Evaluates changes and additions for proposed system acquisitions and provides critical input to the decision-making process relative to integration, operations, cost, resource requirements and maintenance.Analyzes network configuration for critical IT resource utilization, developing plans and recommendations to improve the performance and efficiency of the network.Evaluates changes and additions for proposed system acquisitions and provides critical input to the decision-making process relative to integration, operations, cost, resource requirements and maintenance.Analyze network data for advanced problem identification and vulnerability management, addressing all aspects including hardware, software, outside services, and preventing unplanned disruptions of critical systems.Captures, records, and analyzes network events in order to discover the source of security attacks or other problem incidents using security best practices through unique protocol analysis, real-time network data capture, advanced visualization, pattern and content analysis, and on-demand incident playback.Works on complex assessment of network systems availability, bandwidth and throughput.Works on improving the integration and operation of systems relative to the overall environment.Ensures the systems operate efficiently and are kept at most current stable version/release using vendor-supplied updates and patches. Performs research and testing to verify impact of installing all updates.Provides training to other IT staff on basic network environment.Ensures detailed and up-to-date documentation of network topology and configurations; Documents all add, move, and change on the network.Provides backup to other Infrastructure team members to support telecom, server, and network environments.Excellent time management and organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects with minimal supervision.Participates in the research, recommend, deploy and maintain IT server solutions.Maintain and enhance cooperative interdepartmental and vendor relationships and communications.Attends and participates in meetings, committees, and training sessions as assigned.Ability to work a flexible schedule and second tier on call.Maintains confidentiality at all times and complies with HIPAA and security compliance guidelines at all times.Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
TRAINING/EXPERIENCEAt least 6 years of experience with a wide variety of information management systems, networks and technologies.At least 4 years of experience in Windows/Linux systems engineering, design, implementation and support of LANExperience leading complex technical projectsAdvanced technical knowledge of LAN and WAN on multiple platforms such as Windows and Linux and in Citrix farmAdvanced technical knowledge on Windows Active DirectoryExperience with deploying and supporting Wireless NetworksExperience with virtual server deployment (VMWare)Advanced hardware experience with server blade solutions, storage solutions, backup technologies, and high availability cluster solutions.Advanced knowledge of network protocols and routing, WLAN and VLAN, network, server, and host operating systems; IP networking, internet and intranet technologies; email, office automation and collaboration technologies; client operating systems, server hardware, software, and administration.Ability to work with tight deadlines, time pressures and ambiguity.Ability to multi-task and grasp complex environments.Good leadership, supervision, and teamwork skills, and the ability to work independently.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written documentation skills.Must have the ability to speak, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions in English.Strong problem solving and analytical skills.Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
