The Certified Financial Specialist is responsible for delivering high quality member service while focusing on complex issues and using their advanced knowledge of our multiple products to maximize member participation. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to our membership in Daly CIty and will leverage their expertise to deliver a vision of financial well-being to our members while providing outstanding member service. As a Certified Financial Specialist, you will have the chance to make a difference in the lives of every member you serve.


  • Offer best in class service to our members through prompt, efficient, courteous, and professional interactions.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in Patelco and industry products and service offerings to assist members with complex financial transactions and accounts, including IRA, POA and Fiduciary.
  • Build our members’ financial health through conducting thorough lending and new account interviews using available tools to uncover financial needs.
  • Build ongoing member relationships through each interaction by ensuring our member’s financial needs are met.
  • Advanced proficiency in proactive outreach efforts such as outbound calling and follow-up.
  • Utilize credit union resources to proactively manage and impact member retention.
  • Be a trusted advisor to our members in the areas of debt management, credit advancement, and overall financial security.
  • Be a resource to train new and existing team members in the area of financial well-being as needed.
  • Responsible for managing member consultation requests via multiple delivery channels.
  • Completion of financial well-being action plans and follow up with members.
  • Partner with both Community Engagement, Membership Development and other Patelco teams as needed.
  • Act as an advocate for members in need of credit assistance, including referring to external partner programs such as Balance.
  • Champion and drive adoption of financial health tools and resources.
  • Utilize financial health partners such as Balance for an advanced member consultation as needed.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable federal and state laws and banking regulations (including those related to OFAC and Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering compliance) and Patelco Credit Union’s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • BA or BS in business, finance, or associated field, or equivalent work experience
