Job Description:
California MSK MSO (MSK) is a Management Services Organization
located in the greater Los Angeles area (Burbank and Glendale). MSK
performs comprehensive management and billing services for
physicians and medical professionals including ambulatory surgery
centers, private clinics, physical therapy spaces, imaging offices,
and urgent care settings. MSK is able to provide full or a la carte
services based on the needs of their clients. Services include:
Human Resources, Accounting, Credentialing, Revenue Cycle
Management, Payer Contracting, Strategic Planning, Inventory
Management, and Day to Day Oversight of Operations. MSK hires

personalized care for all clients. Position Summary: The Certified
Professional Coder (CPC) is responsible for assisting the Billing
Department with reviewing and coding medical records in accordance
with medical and legal standards to accurately submit claims to
payors. The CPC will provide coding primarily for musculoskeletal
cases and will focus on Urgent Care, Primary Care and Workers
Compensation. Minimum Education: Employee will have a minimum of a
high school diploma Skills and Qualifications: Required: 2+ years
of experience in medical coding, specifically urgent care, primary
care and workers compensation Knowledge of medical terminology,
physician dictation, and operative reports General knowledge of
CPT, ICD-10 Coding (preferably in Orthopaedics) Thorough
understanding of CPT modifiers Thorough understanding of coding and
billing for procedures Thorough understanding of insurance
explanation of benefits and the ability to take the proper course
of action based on the denial Knowledge of insurance and claims
submission Accuracy in data entry/input Thoroughly understand the
Revenue Cycle Management process Good time management Excellent
communication (verbal, non-verbal, written) and phone skills
Experience operating multiple software applications Good
interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
Ability to problem solve for good outcomes Strong computer skills
including: Microsoft Office EMR/HER/PACS Practice
management/Appointment schedules Scanning Printing Copying of files
and CDs Familiarity with medical legal needs within a medical
office Good understanding of anatomical terms and orthopedic
injuries Belief that their efforts are an important piece to the
patient experience. Reports to: Directly to the Revenue Cycle
Manager Partners and Medical Professionals have indirect oversight
as well Job Responsibilities: Duties will consist of, but not be
limited to: Translate medical notes and op reports in codes Load
demographics and patient registration information in system. Enter
charges and submit claims Verify insurance benefits and eligibility
Verifying coding of the diagnosis required for accuracy of records
Communicate with clinic to correct any errors Communicate monthly
productivity reports for management Applies knowledge if ICD-10 and
CPT to coding and submitting bills Resolves coding denials and
identify any trends Follow up on payers denied claims and resubmit
with corrections or appeals when necessary Review insurance
over-payments and process or appeal as necessary Work with other
staff members in a collaborative manner Assist with the answering
of phones and taking messages as needed Maintaining a clean
environment including shared cleaning duties. Maintains HIPPA
Compliance Attending and participating in meetings as requested
Show to work on time with a clean and presentable appearance Other
duties as assigned Work Environment: Work area is temperate Well
lit Moderate noise level including voices, printers, and ringing
phones Use of headset Walking surfaces are low nap carpet, tile,
and manufactured flooring Hybrid Model (remote/ office) Physical
Requirements: Primarily working in a sitting position Must be fully
vaccinated against Covid-19 (meaning you have received a booster OR
completed your second dose of Pfizer or Moderna within the last 6
months OR completed the first dose of J&J within the last 2
months) Up to 90% on the computer Lifting requirement is normally
less than 20 lbs Walking distances are occasional and no greater
than 50 yards unless walking to or from the parking garage, but
performed repetitively Moderate phone use. Headsets made available.
