Job Description:
The PositionA Senior Supervisor independently provides
operational/procedural management and technical support for the in
vivo toxicological, pharmacokinetic, or pharmacodynamic assessment
of drug candidates and marketed products in the department of
Safety Assessment (SA).Responsibilities:The responsibilities for a
Senior Supervisor include but is not limited to:Oversee 2+ direct
reports or a small business unitProvide direct supervision of
employees using established guidelines and proceduresProvide
guidance on daily operations and contribute towards the strategy
and accomplishment of departmental/team goalsWork independently on
execution of studies of increased complexity, supporting all study
types commonly employed by the teamFunction as a subject matter
expert in a specific functionAct as a technical leaderPerform all
applicable techniques (e.g. test article administration, sample
collection, anesthesia, euthanasia) as requiredAdhere to
departmental SOPs to ensure study integrity and qualityAbide by all
animal welfare guidelinesMaintain documentation related to protocol
executionPresent data at project team and department meetings as
appropriateProactively provides lab maintenance and study
preparatory support for the team as needed and performs other
duties as assignedRequirements:BS in Biological Sciences (or
related field) or equivalent experienceLATG (Laboratory Animal
Technologist) certification desiredFamiliarity with Provantis a
plus3-5 years of direct experience (within the past 12 months) with
in vivo models2-3 years of supervisory experienceDemonstration of
leadership skillsPossessing a sphere of influence extending beyond
his/her immediate functional unitRecognized as an expert and
resource in their field of study both within and outside of their
departmentDemonstrates effective communication of ideas, goals and
progress to group, department, senior management and external
partnersRole will involve:Role is a lab-based position which
requires a high level of physical activity and ability to stand for
extended periodsPerforming some repetitive tasksPerforming
techniques involving a high degree of manual dexterityAbility to
administer test article via oral gavage and intravenous injection
in rodent models with 90% accuracy highly desiredAbility to collect
blood samples via tail vein, jugular vein, cardiac puncture and
retro-orbital sinus highly desiredAdhering to Genentech personal
protective equipment policy and lab complianceWork in a highly
interactive team setting and as such the candidate must exhibit
excellent collaborative skills within their team and with
stakeholdersWork with potentially hazardous materials including
(but not limited to): chemotherapeutics, radioisotopes, and
infectious agentsWill require flexible hours, weekends and holidays
as necessaryRelocation assistance is provided for this position.Who
